Welcome to the West Berkshire Gundog Club, our aim is to make dog training fun for you and your dog.

Whether your goal is an obedient companion, a skilled shooting dog, or competition success, we can help you every step of the way, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Puppy Training: Get the best start to your training for you and your puppy at our weekly class every Sunday.

Sunday Training: Every Sunday come rain or shine join us for our weekly training sessions for dogs and handlers of all ages and skill levels.

Tiered Training: Looking for a more structured training program? Our tiered training program is designed to cover all aspects of gun dog training and is suitable for dogs 6 months and over.

One to One Training: Whether you’re addressing a specific concern or fine-tuning advanced skills, our expert trainers are here to guide you every step of the way with a one to one training session.

Sunday Training – 21st April

This Sunday we will be running the following classes at Highfield Park Farm, RG27 0LG.

  • 09:30 to 10:30 Puppies
  • 11:30 to 12:30 Juniors and Beginners
  • 13:30 to 14:30 Intermediate and Advanced

Within each class we focus on the training needs of each breed – retrievers, spaniels & hunt point retrievers.

Each session is £25 per dog, payable on the day via cash or card.

The access to Highfield Park Farm is off the drive that leads up to Highfield Park Hotel off the B3349.

Please note that it is the Reading Half Marathon this Sunday and the A33 maybe closed, full details on the road closures can be found here.

Tiered Training

Our tiered training program will be running throughout the spring and summer.

This comprehensive training program consist of four levels and are suitable for all gundog breeds over six months old. Each level provides a comprehensive training program that includes all the techniques required to train your dog. Upon successful completion of each level, candidates are awarded rosettes and certificates to recognise their achievements.

  • Level 1 – Starts at 10am and costs £160
  • Level 2 – Starts at 11:30am and costs £180
  • Level 3 – Starts at 1:30pm and costs £200
  • Level 4 – Starts at 3:00pm and costs £220

Our training sessions take place weekly and culminate in an assessment on the fifth week of the course. We believe that this approach provides a structured and effective learning environment for both you and your dog.

We will continue to park at Highfield Park Farm, RG27 0LG while we wait for the training field to dry out.


Parking at Highfield Park Farm

The access to Highfield Park Farm is off the drive that leads up to Highfield Park Hotel off the B3349.

Please drive down the lane carefully and respect the speed limit, particularly when passing the riding school, to avoid startling any horses.

Keep an eye out for the signs and drive down to the hay barn and park on the hard standing and not on the surrounding grass. Please don’t park in the hay barn.
