Welcome to West Berkshire Gundog Club
At West Berkshire Gundog Club, our aim is simple: to make dog training fun for both you and your dog.
Whether you’re looking for a well-behaved companion, a reliable shooting dog, or aiming for competition success, we’re here to support you every step of the way. All in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Sunday Training: 15th December
We will be training every Sunday this side of Christmas.
We’ll be running the following classes this:
- 09:30 to 10:30 Puppies
- 11:30 to 12:30 Juniors and Beginners
- 13:30 to 14:30 Intermediate and Advanced
These will be held at our training ground on Malthouse Lane which is along the Basingstoke Road ///nipped.lace.comically.
Within each class we focus on the training needs of retrievers, spaniels & hunt point retrievers.
Each session is £25 per dog, payable on the day via cash or card.

Dogs aged six months and older must undergo a personalised assessment before joining these classes. This step is essential to ensure that both you and your dog begin the training at a suitable level, allowing you to get the most out of these classes.

Winter Working Test: 28th December
We’re excited to announce that following the success of last year we’ll be running another Winter Working Test. This will take place on Sunday, 28th December 2025 at our training ground.
There will be three classes for each breed (HPR, Retriever & Spaniel)
- Puppy: all dogs up to 12 months on the day
- Novice: dogs aged over 12 month who have not previously won a novice working test
- Open: dogs aged over 12 months that are well trained or have won a novice working test

Cost: £35 per dog payable on the day by cash or card
Location: Our Training Ground, Malthouse Lane along the Basingstoke Road (A33), ///nipped.lace.comically.
Start Time: Please arrive from 9am with the test starting at 9:30am, this allows enough time sign you in.
Level 5: Starts 4th January 2026
Are you and your dog are up to challenge to take on our ultimate training course? This fun and very challenging training will put you and your dog in some of the most realistic simulated shooting training scenarios.
This course in only suitable for advanced dogs and is held at the same time as the other club training session on a Sunday but on a different part of the training ground.

Sunday Training
Rain or shine, we run weekly training sessions every Sunday for dogs and handlers of all ages and skill levels. A great way to train consistently and build confidence.

Looking for a more structured approach? Our Tiered Training Program covers all aspects of gundog training and is suitable for dogs aged 6 months and over.
One-to-One Training
Need targeted support? Whether you’re working through a challenge or fine-tuning advanced skills, our one-to-one sessions offer personalised guidance from our experienced trainers.
Events & Working Tests
We run special training days and working tests throughout the year. A perfect way to learn something new or put your skills to the test and enjoy the day with fellow handlers.
