Dear New Member,
Thank you for joining the West Berkshire Gundog Club. You will find enclosed a copy of your membership card and details of our club rules, which you should take time to read. Renewals are due on the 1st February each year. Also enclosed are the dates for all future training sessions.
As a member of the club you can use the training ground in-between the normal monthly training sessions, however as we lease this land from a local estate, we have been entrusted to look after it and ensure we use it in a responsible manner. Use of the land is at your own risk and West Berkshire Gundog Club and the local estate will in no way be held responsible for any incidents, accidents or issues relating to you or your dog. Your dog is your responsibility and should be kept under control at all times.
The club offers puppy classes for all gundog breeds on a monthly basis, this is normally held after the main training classes have ended. They are available for puppies as soon as they have had their injections. The emphasis is on having fun and forming a bond between owner and puppy.
At every session we have a shop where you can purchase training equipment for you and your dog, from puppy equipment through to the more experienced dog.
The club runs tiered training throughout the year, along with a working Gundog Test of Work at the end of the year. Both these events are run and judged by trainers of the club and are open to members only. Winners and members who are placed will receive a certificate and rosette.
West Berkshire Gundog Club has a web address at http://www.westberksgundog.com/ where we post results and updates on all our events. There is also a photo gallery where you may see pictures of your dog in action! We have a forum where you can post questions and respond to other member’s posts, the trainers often join in to respond to any issues that members might have.
Welcome to the club and we look forward to seeing you at the monthly training sessions.
Allan and Sue Hender
