Hi all,

At training last night I spoke to a few people who had been on here and looked around the WBGC forums, but hadn't posted anything yet.

So I wanted to create a post inviting anyone & everyone to sign up & post what their aims are in doing gundog training.

Do you train for fun? General/pet obedience? You'd like to take your dog beating/picking up on a shoot? You'd like to enter Working Tests? You're aiming for Field Trials?

So, why did you join WBGC and what are your training aims?

I guess I should go first... :)

I'm going to enter Vegas into Working Tests (his first test is at the end of the summer). I am hoping he will be a great picking up dog. And last, but most definitely not least, and I would loooooooove to do some Field Trials one day if he is good enough.

That's the pipe dream anyway!

So, who's next?

After today I don't think it's a pipe dream!!

I'd love for Koda to pass her Show Gundog Working Test and maybe try a working test.......but only if the nerves hold up (unlike today , what a wreck I was LOL!)

Now those are definitely pipe dreams!!!

I do the training to get a better bond with both of my dogs.  First & Foremost I want happy stimulated dogs.  If they are good enough I would like to go on to field trials.

With the amount of hard work you put in you'll get there.  As to happy stimulated dogs, Baxter is already there I'd say - he's lovely!

My wife had been bringing Viktor down to your classes last year but work and other commitments meant that she couldn't continue.

Now I'm free to take over and would like to start coming down to the classes again. The only problem is that Viktor is probably going to be better than me to start with as I've got less experience than him (and I'm guessing it comes fairly naturally to him too).

I'm just starting to get interested in outdoor activities and would quite like to try 'beating' with Viktor although I've never done it before. This may lead on to shooting but I'd like to get Viktor settled and have a few of the grades under his collar before we start.

Hi all,

just thought i would reply to this.I would like Bailey to be a happy and contented dog,and thought gundog training would give him a purpose, rather than him just being a family pet.I love to see him work, and yoou can tell he is happy.

I would like to enter him for his graded tests and working tests, but above all to have fun with him.

Regards

Steve

Hi, id like to get as far as we can and as much as we can!!!  I am sooooooooo sure Holly has so much potential if i could just get some help. Iv got a shooting mad boyfriend but im very new to this.

We came 3rd in her 2nd scurry a few weeks ago at mapledurham and i was so unbelievably proud of her although she thinks its a massive excitable game to start with and then turns very serious into a proud gorgeous working dog. i just dont know where to start!
