having been asked so many times how do you get your dogs to come back so easy and control them i thought i would give you a few points to consider and think about PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN FINDINGS WITH MY OWN DOGS. i beive that dogs through 3 stages of growing up and we have to understand what they require during each stage it is also a myth that dogs need hours of exersise they need to know you are the team leader first best freind second and lots of mental stimulation. my dogs at home are inthe regime of the garden is the play area no training done its for play the house is for chill out time no playing in the house they come get fussed for 5 minutes then they must lie down and only come when asked any messing and they get time out in the cage. out for a walk and in the feild is work time only and under my rules no free running to go and play with other dogs etc . during puppy stage it will all be fun but i will condition them to be focused on me with them realising it take the pup of lead let it go 10yds away call name then come clap hands and walk off when returning kneel down and praise praise tell the pup to get on walk off the opposite direction 10yds again name come praise praise i never stop talking to the dog never take my eyes off it i must be more intresting than the big wide world then comes the more formal training with a dog thats looking at you and focused the lessons become easier then you hit the rebel period this can vary from around 12 to 14 months just ride through this it can be tough but all dogs come through it then when your dog reaches maturity you should have a well balanced dog with a structure he or she enjoys and will just want to please you. also remember once a lesson is learnt ie sit and stay insist this is done if you dont disobediance will creep in elsewhere pay attention when your talking to other people insist your dogs sit i see so many people chatting away tell the dog to sit then dog is messing about on the lead ( getting away with not sitting still ) then you walk out and expect the dog to sit and stay why should it has just been allowed to ignore the command for the 10 minutes you was chatting i hope this has been some help it is not meant to critise anyone we have all made mistakes and i still do but paws for thought | |

she gets plenty of chill out time when im at work, even when i work at home she takes her self off to bed, she has a bed under the grooming table in the dog room, when i train her she goes out on her own but also they get some training when they are all together like recalls and waits etc, she doesnt get 10 min of me every day tho, its just not possible, she has grown out of a lot of things like allan said she would but having patients isnt domething she is blessed with, shes to keen to be doing something, her mum is quite buzzy too, im getting used to it and i dont think i would like it if she was very flat as she was in the summer when it was hot, shes getting there but its hard work and taking a lot of time!!!!
