I am struggling with the directional retrieve with Baxter.  I have roped in two friends once a week to practice.  However could really use more practice. 

Would anyone be willing to volunteer to meet once a week to practice?

I'm not sure what you're looking to achieve with a training partner, as this is really solo work.

Is there anything I can help with, anything in particular you're struggling with... are you starting off with his back to a hedge/fence and with yourself quite close to him, and a nice easy mark on cut grass?

Any idea where abouts it's going wrong?

If I can help I will - not doing the tests as Koda came into season on Sunday so hopefully will be mating her sometime next week.  All the books recommend that for the first couple of weeks you don't do any training or shows with the dog and it being mine and her's first time we'll do it by the book :D.   

But if you think I can help I'm more than happy to help.  Is he trying to take the dummy to the person who dropped it?
